I am Martha (Although many refer to me as Marth Vader due to my obsession with Star Wars). A girl with passion for way too many things. Can I capture all my passions in this blog? Probably not but I'm going to try! Raised in Kalispell, a small town in Montana that is surrounded by some of the most beautiful aspects of our wonderful earth. One day I hope to return but for now I'm on a journey to discover the wide world in which we all live. I want to help make our world a better place whether that's smiling at someone you don't know or educating women half way across the world. I love my family, friends, God, music, pembroke welsh corgis, and creating. Wherever this life takes me I trust it will be a good one. Love with all you got and that's all!

“Some people do not have to search. They find their niche early in life and rest there, seemingly contented and resigned. They do not seem to ask much of life, sometimes they do not take it seriously. At times I envy them, but usually I do not understand them. Seldom do they understand me.

I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy but neither are we really content. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like long walks along the beach; we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers and lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know — unless it is to share our laughter.

We searchers are ambitious only for life itself, for everything good and beautiful it can provide. Most of all we want to love and be loved. We want to live in a relationship that will not impede our wandering, nor prevent our search, nor lock us in prison walls; that will take us for what little we have to give. We do not want to prove ourselves to another or to compete for love.

This…is for wanderers, dreamers and lovers, for lonely men and women who dare to ask of life everything good and beautiful. It is for those who are too gentle to live among wolves.”

Fighting for education.

This last weekend I spent in Washington DC with over 300 student leaders from colleges and universities from all over the nation.  We attended the United States Student Association Legislative Conference to learn how to be better contributors to our nation.  We as student are outraged that student debt has reached over ONE TRILLION dollars (more than credit card debt in this country) and feel education has fallen behind on our nations priorities.  So, Monday the students of USSA representing over 400 college/universities and 4 million students across the nation stood in solidarity outside the offices of Sallie Mae- the nations largest profiteer off of student debt.  We then proceeded to meet with the representatives and senators and their staff from our respective states to lobby and have discussions around making education a priority.

“We’re demanding that students get bailed out, just like the banks and corporations did,” says USSA. “If they are too big to fail, so is an entire generation of college graduates.” -More here

Our nations students and recent graduates are drowning in debt and their voices continue to be silenced no more.
